ANGELIQUA MCNAIR, FOUNDER
They say the best way to find your own path is to get lost in your present one. No one is a better example of that than Angeliqua McNair. Today the Real Estate Property Management Senior Closing Director / Fashion entrepreneur sits in the driver’s seat of a burgeoning empire, which includes the Melanin On Wall Street Sisterhood platform.
Though Angeliqua’s online persona, Stylishlyiconic, made its debut onto the Fashion scene in 2009, the motivation behind building her brand really began when she was a young adult, set to graduate from The High School Of Art & Design. Growing up in Clinton Hills and Bed- Stuy Brooklyn, Angeliqua spent much of her free time daydreaming, interning for fashion companies, attending Fashion Week, being interviewed for fashion blogs, creating fashion looks in her mind, and designing women’s clothing that were never finished. In college, she majored in Fashion Marketing & Retail management with a hope of becoming the next Kimora Lee Simmons or Tyra Banks.
Shortly after finishing college at The Art Institute Of Atlanta, she became the marketing director for The Lisa Nicole Cloud Collection, as seen on Bravo's Married to the Medicine.
"I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do, but I always knew the woman I wanted to be.”
Looking for a fresh start, Angeliqua moved back to New York and began freelancing with fashion brands such as Gracia New York, Blue & Cream, Judy’s Group, Sierra Julian, and other major fashion companies as a wholesale executive and marketing director. This was her first taste of working in fashion in the big apple. Six months later, she was hired as the Assistant Marketing Director/Promotions Coordinator at Karigam Enterprises, where she was introduced to marketing and brand strategizing and the importance of building a branding platform.
Angeliqua has embarked on a new journey with a new new career working in real estate law and property management as a Senior Closing Transaction Director. "I never thought a Brown girl like me would make it to Wall Street closing real estate deals. I always thought I had to have one passion but I have two. One thing about me is I don’t settle. Not for a salary, career, love, and definitely not for being mediocre. No one should. Never be afraid to learn new things or take risks. “
Through it all, Angeliqua exemplifies what it means to gain control of one’s self through determination, self-motivation, self-reliance, and self-promotion. More important than any of her accomplishments, however, is Angeliqua's philosophy in life is represented by - Keeping your standards as high as your heels and to promote a positive image of successful corporate women-of-color, as well as empower, educate, and inspire millennials through building relationships and long lasting bonds.
